ITINERARY

People traveling by bus from Quito, the meeting point is “La Casa de Mi Abuelo” around 9:30 am, with one representative of the Guacamayo Eco Lodge. After picking up the people who will arrive by plane, you will journey by private transport to the entry to the Cuyabeno Reserve, for 2 hours.It will take the canoe ride down the Cuyabeno River to get to the lodge, approximately 2 hours, if the river has a considerable level of water, when is shallow in the dry season will take more time. The lunch is served at the Lodge around 14:00. In the afternoon you will start the activity around 16:00, to visit the Laguna Grande and other attractions nearby. Around 17:30 you will get to the Lagoon to swim and see the sunset, which is one of the most amazing parts of the tour. At 18:00 an exciting night walk waits for you, during the walk you can expect to see lots of insects, spiders, and tarantulas; also, to listen to the jungle at night which is so incredible.

After breakfast, you will take a short canoe ride to the Laguna Grande. Around the Lagoon, there are a couple of paths where you’ll take a hike in the rainforest for about 3 hours to learn about medicinal plants and the biological flora and fauna. Once the hike is ended, you will return to the lodge with the motor canoe or paddling. After lunch, time to relax by the river or enjoy a siesta in one of our hammocks. The afternoon activity starts around 4 pm, which includes taking a short canoe ride to other Lagoons nearby and the Cuyabeno River to look for some wildlife. Around 17:30, time to swim and watch the sunset. Around 18:00, you will start the activity for Caiman searching, maybe if you are lucky, can see the Amazon Tree Boa which is common to see at night.

 The canoe ride starts around 09:00 a.m. down the Cuyabeno River, slowly looking for some wildlife. In one hour you will arrive at the indigenous community; where you’ll visit an indigenous family. The guide will take you around and explain about their culture and traditions.; following with this activity of the preparation of the traditional food called “Casabe”. It includes demonstration and degustation.
Further down, on the Cuyabeno River is located the Shaman, the program involves visiting the shaman and knowing about his culture and tradition. Also, to get treated with a medicinal plant called “red stinging nettle” After visiting the Shaman, you will stop down the Cuyabeno River to see the biggest tree in the Rainforest called “Ceiba”

After breakfast is time to pack up your stuff, and start the journey up the Cuyabeno River around 09:00 a.m from the Lodge, to get back to the Entrance of the Reserve. Along the River, you will have time to take the last look at the jungle animals, flora, and fauna. The tour ends in Lago Agrio around 14:00.

  • Important things to bring: Sun Hat, hiking shorts or light full-length hiking pants, water shoes with non-slippery soles, sandals, windbreaker jacket, sunglasses, shorts, dress or skirt, bathing suit, thin and breathable socks, and hiking shoes. Small backpack, water bottle, ziplock, dry bag, waterproof see-through phone pouch, waterproof sunblock, binoculars, camera, device chargers, towel, sunglasses, and your passport.
  • Inform yourself about food safety when traveling to tropical countries. Take the necessary precautions to avoid food poisoning (always wash your hands before eating, don’t eat street food, only eat peeled fruits, etc.)
  • It is mandatory to have valid travel and medical insurance. Please inform us of any known medical conditions you have.
  • Latin Adventures reserves the right to change the itinerary without prior notice due to weather conditions, availability, National Park regulations or notifications, and unforeseeable circumstances.
  • Before confirmation, guests must inform the reservation team of any food allergies, medical conditions, or physical impairment that might affect any part of their stay. Failure to do so, Latin Adventures reserves the right to cancel the booking if it is not deemed possible to carry out packages and its activities.
  • Payments made will be subject to cancellation penalties.
  • In addition to our cancellation penalties, all financial returns are subject to government taxes, credit card fees, and admin fees. These charges may add up to 10%.
  • If a trip is canceled due to acts of God, war, strikes, political unrest, volcanic eruption, earthquake, flooding, tropical storms, global disasters, or any emergencies such as pandemics, epidemics, or other circumstances beyond the tour operator’s or guest’s reasonable control, Latin Adventures will maintain with the original payment and cancellation policies as mentioned in this document.
  • Latin Adventures will not be subject to refunds for a proportion of the stay missed due to delayed or canceled flights before or during the journey to the hotel.
