Itinerary
Download BrochureThe excursion starts at 8 am from your hotel in Quito. Meet your guide and board a vehicle heading North of Quito and towards Imbabura Province. On the way, we will stop at San Pablo´s Lake viewpoint to take some pictures and where we will try some delicious biscochos (local traditional buttery cookies). Around 11:00 am in our private vehicle, we will begin to visit the Peguche village where artisan workshops are dedicated to making crafts and clothing using materials such as; sheep and alpaca wool. In addition, we will visit an Andean musical instrument workshop and to complement our tour we will enjoy a short walk inside the Protected Forest Cascada de Peguche, then we continue to the city of Cotacachi to enjoy lunch and then have some free time, walk and visit the city. When we finish walking and visiting the city, we prepare to go to the Cuicocha crater lake, located 15 minutes away from the city. There we will be able to walk for a moment along the edge of the Cuicocha crater, our gentle guide will tell you about plants, native animals, and the history that is hidden in such a beautiful place. Breakfast in the hotel. We will head to visit an indigenous community for cultural immersion and activities such as gardening work, participate in the traditional harvest of potatoes, quinoa, or other vegetables, cooking together, preparation of family festivities, etc. Typical Ecuadorian menu lunch. After that, we will visit the Otavalo Market. You will have the opportunity to walk through the market to see the different stands and local people exhibiting their multicolored handicrafts and souvenirs. On the way back to Quito, we will make a short stop at the Equator Sundial Monument.
